Events in 2024
Were are holding a new event as a pre start to the new season. It is a Pie & Peas evening along with a Quiz and it is on Friday the 15th March starting at 7.30pm in the Main Hall at the Memorial Hall. The response has been fantastic so we are looking forward to a fun evening.

Our first Workday of the year is on Saturday 16th March starting at 9am. Always lots to do in preparation for a new season. After this we are really hopeful of opening the green on the 18th March to get back into the swing of things. As we know the weather has been dreadful over the winter and is not helping any bowling club but we keep our fingers crossed.

We kick off the season with a new team in the Tadcaster Thursday evening league. They have been placed in Division 4 and they start their first matches in the Richardson Trophy through April. Also we have a new team coming into the Harrogate Vets Division 4 which was our development team last year and we wish them all the best.

LADIES MERIT COMPETITION - 4/8/24 @ Boston Spa BC
This year we had five entries into the competition - Sarah Jarvis, Anne Brabin, Helen Danby, Amy Wilson and Christine Lord and what a competition it turned out to be. As the competition progressed we thought we were in with a chance of an all Collingham final and that is exactly what happened. Amy and Sarah played a great final with Amy coming out the winner 21 - 11. All our ladies were fantastic and helped make the event a great day and did our club proud.

Bowls development.

Stage 1 - Coaching
This is the first stage in teaching the basics and rules of crown green bowling.  We have two qualified bowling coaches, Alan Scorfield and Geoff Jones, who hold coaching sessions every Thursday morning between the hours of 10am and 12 noon.  Each new player will receive three taster sessions for free then there will be a charge of £1.50 per session which will include refreshments. We have all the equipment you need to start off with and our only request is that you wear flat soled shoes whilst on the green (i.e., - trainers).
This is proving very successful and has led many of them to join the next stage of their development which we call the Muddles.

Stage 2 - Muddles
The Muddles take place on a Monday and Thursday afternoons between 1pm and 5pm. They give members the chance to play players at different levels of ability and to develop their own game. Matches are played to 15 rather than 21 to give a quick turnround. It is fun and you can play as many games as you wish in the time allowed. We see these muddles as the next step to playing in one of our many league teams.

Stage 3 - Playing for the teams
Several of our newer players who started in the coaching sessions have developed well and are now playing and competing very successfully in the leagues. We have seen how their confidence has built and how our development planning has helped them to get to this stage.

Regular Get togethers

Saturday Socials.

This event happens in our local village pub, Cromwell's, on the first Saturday of each month commencing at 5.30pm. It is open to all members and is another aspect of our social calendar. It is a get together for a chat and some nibbles and is well supported. This event carries on all year even in the closed season.


Winter coffee mornings.
We have introduced this event as a way to keep in touch when the season has finished. It runs on varying Thursday's from October to March and these dates can be found on our website calendar. They have been very successful not only for our members but for people of the local community and surrounding area.
