Events in 2026


REGISTRATION EVENING
This takes place on Monday 19th January starting at 6.30pm in the Green Room at the Hall. There is also a range of club uniform on show from our new supplier Emblazon of Harrogate. Teas and coffees are available on the night.

CROMWELLS VILLAGE PUB
These are our Saturday Socials which take place on the 1st Saturday of each month throughout the year. We look to meet up from 5.30pm until whenever. It is a time to meet and have a catch up and we thank the team at Cromwell's for supporting us.

WORKDAYS
Our first workday for 2026 will be on Saturday 28th February from 9am. As this is our first there will be lots to do in preparation for the opening of the green and we will need lots of support. Please attend if you can as your support is always appreciated.

GRAND OPENING MARCH 2026
On Thursday 19th March we officially opened the green for the new season and we also celebrated the opening of our new South Terrace Veranda. Click here for more information.

CLUB ANNUAL DINNER
We are again holding this event at Wetherby Golf Club on Friday 16th October from 7pm. It has proved to be an excellent venue and we thank them for the hospitality they show us.

SPECIAL THANKS
The club has undertaken a huge project through the close season on both the South and West sides of the green. A complete renovation of the pathways has taken place and the installation of a veranda along the Green Room wall on the South side which will give us extra shelter during poor weather and the chance to utilise this space for varying functions such as the coffee mornings mentioned in the Club Activity.

To achieve all this we have to thank the following -

Awards for All Community Fund and the Parish Council for providing us with the grants to help deliver this project.

Spencer and the team from Exterior Living were the contractors who did the groundworks and have done an outstanding job. Well done for all your hard work even through some inclement weather.

Nathan Jukes and the team at Jukes Joinery who have made and installed the veranda along the South Wall of the green which has made a huge difference to the infrastructure of the club and has provided much needed extra shelter to both our members and visitors to the club.

Bowls Development.

COACHING
This is the first stage in teaching the basics and rules of crown green bowling.  We have two qualified bowling coaches, Alan Scorfield and Geoff Jones, who hold coaching sessions every Thursday morning between the hours of 10am and 12 noon.  Each new player will receive three taster sessions for free then there will be a charge of £1.50 per session including refreshments. We have all the equipment you need to start off with and our only request is that you wear flat soled shoes whilst on the green (i.e., - trainers).
This is proving very successful and has led many of them to join the next stage of their development which we call the Muddles.

MUDDLES
The Muddles take place on a Monday and Thursday afternoons between 1pm and 5pm. They give members the chance to play players at different levels of ability and to develop their own game. Matches are played to 15 rather than 21 to give a quick turnround. It is fun and you can play as many games as you wish in the time allowed. We see these muddles as the next step to playing in one of our many league teams.

CLUB ACTIVITY

Winter Coffee Mornings - 2025 / 2026
We are holding our third run of coffee mornings as the feedback we had from the previous two was overwhelming. Our first one is on the 16th October followed by the 20th November then the 18th December and in 2026 on the 15th January, 26th February and the 19th March. Each one is being held in the Green Room at the Memorial Hall from 10am until 12 noon. As well as refreshments and cakes there will also be a book stall for you to browse through. We also have on show a selection of various hand made cards by Sue Scruton to cover any occasion.

With all the pre-season building work going on and the installation of a new Victorian style veranda at the end of February, the infrastructure of the club will have been enhanced dramatically. With that in mind, the committee have been discussing the possibility of extending these coffee mornings through the summer and to take place in the club grounds under the veranda. The committee would appreciate your views on this.
